Karnataka Travel Diaries

One of the most memorable trips I ever had was to Karnataka in August 2012. It was part of my college tour and I had a blast with my friends. We visited so many amazing places and had so much fun. I still cherish those days as some of the best in my college life. Here are some of the locations we explored during our journey.

Karnataka

Karnataka is a state in southwest India with Arabian Sea coastlines. Karnataka is bordered by the Lakshadweep Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana to the northeast, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast, and Kerala to the southwest. It is the only southern state to have land borders with all of the other four southern Indian sister states.

Chamundi Hills

The Chamundi Hills are located 13 km east of Mysore, Karnataka, India. The name comes from the Chamundeshwari Temple at the peak. The average elevation is 1,060 metres (3,480 ft). The Chamundeshwari Temple is located atop the Chamundi Hills. Patronised for centuries by Mysore rulers, it was renovated during the time of Krishnaraja Wodeyar III (1827).

Namdroling Monastery Golden Temple

The Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery or Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargye Ling is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. Located in Bylakuppe, part of the Mysuru district of the state of Karnataka, the monastery is home to a sangha community of over five thousand lamas (both monks and nuns), a junior high school named Yeshe Wodsal Sherab Raldri Ling, a religious college (or shedra for both monks and nuns) and hospital.
